Hi Molino!!

I see that you have asked the question from purely commercial PoV. pease correct my understanding, if found otherwise.

Whenever any Flowsheet is designed, some of the possible variables are made fixed to have certain and clear viability and financial forecasting as per market constraint. mostly these are "feed quality parameters" and "quality range for output" (including reject). Accordingly everything else is purchased for CAPEX, and OPEX is calculated.

once we start fluctuating feed quality (or start changing the pre-fixed parameters), with whatever notion (changing raw material quality as you mentioned), it disrupt the process, and eventually calls for much greater flexible O&M structure, which may not be possible in many cases.

Generally for higher grade of feed input, rejects grade (% of valuable) increases and calls for unrecoverable lossees for really long time. as we generally don't plan for gangue beneficiation alongwith the main plant.

my answer may be a bit unstructured and spontanous. Hope it'll help you my friend.

Thanks :)
