I don't know of hard statistics. It would be difficult to quantify.

I would say that that mines generally show a serious commitment to the environment in proportion to the regulation & accountability imposed on them. Accountability coming from governments but also the community as a whole, meaning that there is greater accountability now than in the past due to the easier sharing of information.

So mines in developed countries (Australia, Canada, USA etc) show greater commitment to the environmental issues than less developed countries that have less regulation. But with the growing accountability mines in developing countries can get away with less now than they used to.

But really, most mines's environmental efforts are based on compliance. What they "have" to do, rather an altruistic desire to do leave the environment in the best state.

Depends on what function you want it to perform, what commodity, scale of operation etc.

Does it need to be able to do everything from mine design, scheduling, blending, through to equipment optimisation?

The more you need from it, the less likely you'll find it in one package. Or the more you'll pay. Sometimes a one package that does "everything" might not be the best solution or most cost effective.

Different products are tailored towards specific markets (ie. coal, metals, underground, open pit). Whilst some software cut across such boundaries, its not always so simple.

If you can provide some more details, I can try to be a bit more specific
